POWERBALL CHANGES - EFFECTIVE 7 JANUARY 2009

Date: 2010-09-20 14:17:04

Beginning with the $105,000,000 multiple rollover draw that will take place on Wednesday 7 January 2009, the structure of PowerBall's number selection will undergo some changes. The state of Florida will be joining the fold, creating a new number selection structure and some interesting modifications to prize structures and jackpots. The changes that come into effect are as follows: • The first number set will change from 55 to 59. • The average winning jackpot will grow from $95.5 million to an expected $141 million. • The second number set (from which the PowerBall is drawn) will reduce from 42 to 39. • The base jackpot will grow from $15m to $20m, making it the world’s richest starting lotto-game. • The state of Florida will join the PowerBall stable The changes will allow more winnings to be issued, while ensuring that the jackpots grow even bigger. We are hugely in favour of these changes as it means more winnings to more customers, bigger initial jackpots on offer, and larger jackpots when those rollovers occur.
